The popular country song "Two Black Cadillacs" is about two women setting aside their differences and killing their cheating boyfriend/husband. How popular would this song be if it was about a man killing his cheating girlfriend?

Looks like hate speech based on a specific gender only applies if the gender is female.

Why is it considered victim blaming to question someone's side of the story?

Innocent man profiled as a violent deviant by police, users of /r/twox see it as excellent police work and an overall "positive experience."

It is common theme in popular music. Dixie Chicks killed Earl, Underwood wrecked her bf's car, most of Miranda Lambert's hits. Not just country either. Aerosmith sang about Janie getting her gun. In 1946, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Jordan, “Stone Cold Dead In The Market (He Had It Coming)”...beat him to death with cookwear. Just to name a few.

The closest thing I have heard to a gender reversed version of this. Is the song 'Four Little Diamonds'. Most of the songs is talking about the woman betrayed him. And presumably robbed him. There is an implied threat in the chorus of the song.

I still hear her callin' out to me,

I still listen for her endlessly

But it never even crossed my mind she was a cheater

I gotta find where she hides

'Cause if the law don't get her then I will -

Four little diamonds

There's a tradition of murder ballads in Appalachian music, though those are mostly cautionary tales of evil men or recountings of actual murders. Pretty Polly, Knoxville Girl, Banks of the Ohio, Shady Grove, Little Willie. There's a whole bunch of them.

Here in Chile there's a rock band called "Los Tres" ("The Three Ones"). In December 31, 2014 they released the video clip of their new single "Hey hey hey", which caused huge controversy. They were accused of "promoting femicide and violence against women" because the song is about a man who kills his unfaithful partner. You can read more about this incident here: http://santiagotimes.cl/los-tres-deny-new-video-condones-violence-women/

Aerosmith sang about Janie getting her gun.

Meh, the guy in that one had it coming. The objectionable part is that they focused on a male perp when most child abuse is committed by women.

A song about killing a cheating boyfriend/husband: YOU GO GUURRLL!!

Just another great reason not to marry or cohabitate.

I hate to be this guy, but just off the top of my head, I know Blake Shelton and Garth Brooks both have songs on their greatest hits albums about men killing their cheating wives... Just saying.

Reminds me of the furor over grand theft auto. In the entirety if the grand theft auto series. The only time the player is required to kill a woman in order to complete a mission is the final mission from GTA 3. The plot in GTA 3 is the player character and Catalina are robbing a bank. She shoots you in the face and leaves you for dead. You go into a coma and are taken into police custody. Some time later you wake up from your coma and break free from police custody. The player's main goal for the story is revenge against Catalina. And the story revolves around doing favors for various local crime gangs in return for help tracking down Catalina. That is the only time in the entire GTA franchise where a player must kill a woman in order to progress in the game. In contrast, the number of men you must kill in order to complete GTA 3 is in the hundreds.

Jimmy Hendricks' "Hey Joe" and James Brown's "The Big Payback" are examples of the opposite. The former is explicit in it's violence while the latter is implied.

Thats not the point. When artist make songs were women are the cheaters or whatever and they kill them they get criticism for all kinds off bullshit.

Leave the artists alone—they're just making art

Again, no one in this thread is attacking the artists. They're criticizing how the media reacts to the art when it involves violence against men as compared to that of women.
