The campus feminism and its backers in the government are so comfortable stripping men, categorically, of our civil rights, that I can only conclude that feminism, the way it is headed, is fundamentally incompatible with a functioning democracy. It requires one half of the population to be second-class citizens completely civically and legally helpless, and always second to, the other half.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo praised the legislation the other day in an address to New York University students. "Every woman should know . . . they have more rights than they had before," Cuomo said.

How about we try for equality instead of elevating one sex over the other?
