Police are appealing for witnesses after man asks for directions

While I personally do agree that children should be protected from strangers, I do find it ridiculous that police only stopped short of a manhunt after a man asked a 12 year old for directions, and then disappeared. A 12 year old is old enough to be asked for directions. There is no evidence of a crime or intent to commit a crime.
