How fake news is created glorifying women. A female government officer was rescued by male police officers and photos reveal it too. But paid media glorifies the lady while berating the ones who saved her.

I've been swung at while in duty. Its my discression how I want to handle it. If I don't think its worth it to go ahead/want to give someone a break/ or numerous other reasons I won't. Its a case by case issue when things like this come up.

I'll put some one down regardless of gender. What comes after is usually based in how they handle the issue while we are all there dealing with it.

Do you notice a tendency for there to be an entitled attitude among the detained (or otherwise) female populace?

[–]belil569 17 points18 points19 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

More attitude and less action as a general rule. Women are more likely to talk smack. The men usually try to do more.

Ive dealt with abusive relationships before so the filth that they spout off really does not bother me at all and helps me see a little clearer when dealing with a DV call.

.

[–]belil569 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very much so.

This is pretty basic of what I get to see. I mean Im not advocating following orders blind but some bloody common sense. Chances are if Im saying something its not small talk. I dont want to be dealing with you any more then you want to be dealing with me.

Mind you I have a few things that will set me right off when Im talking to some one and just make it straight to the book.

Do you have any training on how to deal with foreign diplomats if that's who is doing the swinging at you? Because that's what this women was, she was from the Turkish embassy.

Male diplomats do this sort of thing all the time and the police simply have to let them go, they can't be arrested or prosecuted.

Example: www.jpost.com/International/Report-Three-Israeli-diplomats-beat-up-Indian-immigration-officer-in-Delhi-347758

Another case, where a US diplomat shoved police in Vietnam, and the US lodged a strong protest and summoned the ambassador in Washington because they actually physically restrained him: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/07/christian-marchant-vietnam_n_805685.html

[–]belil569 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Basically you dont do anything. Thats the short of it, unless they are about to seriously harm some one.

Their are ways to go after people even as a diplomat but at that point it all red tape and what not. Most of the time they just remove that person from the country and put restrictions on their travel to there.

[–]bobbage 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The point is though that it is up to the country of the diplomat in question to remove them, and that depends on the case, the local police can't do much and have to stand back.

Those Israelis were ultimately removed but by their own government.

If you were in an altercation with a diplomat you knew to be a diplomat and she slapped you like in the video, what would you do?

[–]belil569 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

country of the diplomat in question to remove them, and that depends on the case, the local police can't do much and have

All things being perfect I would like to say I would handle it with dignity and and professionalism.

Reality says that it would depend on my day and the moment. If I was already in a bad mood and this lady was poking at me not stop then slapped me Id probably react a very different way.

At the point the first thing that probably ran through the guys head is this isnt worth me getting fired over and let it go.

I have dealt with some pretty asshole VIP's. Some are diplomats. For the most part I just shut my mouth. Ive spoken up a few times and took a load of shit. Was it worth it? For me yea. Im not usually the time to take shit for no reason. Is it worth it for most? no.

Hope that gives you a better idea.

[–]bobbage 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I appreciate the feedback. I guess my point is that it's not like these asshole VIPs are all women, if anything there are more men.

[–]belil569 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not in my experience. Gender us usually female. Ratio of being an asshole is about half.being a jerk is gender neutral.

Is it also your discretion when to use correct spelling? It's kinda funny how one can fail the final police test for being too smart.

[–]belil569 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wow, hostile and rude over nothing. A spelling issue. So what. So sorry that 1 am on my phone caused a spelling problem.

You sure showed me. My life has been changed. Sure you've never made a single mistake while typing.

[–]T-Breezy16 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Could be he showed extra restraint because of all the news about police brutality lately. Seems like another case pops up every single week

[–]uabeng 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This. I would really hate being a police officer right now. Granted there are a few bad eggs, but those tend to ruin the whole batch.

[–]TheGDBatman 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's funny how it's always only "a few bad eggs", yet none of the supposedly "good cops" ever does shit about the bad ones.

If you're a cop, and you don't do anything about the bad cops, guess what? You're one of the bad cops.

only because video of incident went viral. If man would've slapped police, they would have beaten him to pulp.

Editorializing.

[–]bobbage 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She was a Turkish diplomat and it was a very light slap. Police don't tend to batter foreign diplomats to a pulp regardless of their gender. You can't arrest diplomats even if they do whack a police officer.

Here's a case where three male Israeli diplomats physically assaulted an Indian immigration officer at Delhi airport because he was delaying them. One slapped him and then two others beat him up. The whole thing was captured on CCTV and corroborated the assault but there were no arrests and no charges, because they were diplomats, that's just how it works.

Accurate editorializing.

Yes, it accurately conveys an opinion.

[–]ThePigmanAgain -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

An opinion most of us would agree with. And even if we didn't agree with him, so what? Is there a rule about editorialized titles? And is the OP claiming it as a hard and fast fact? I don't think so.

[–]belil569 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

reddiquette: Keep your submission titles factual and opinion free. If it is an outrageous topic, share your crazy outrage in the comment section

[–]ThePigmanAgain -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Where is that rule posted?

[–]belil569 -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bottom of the page, reddiquette. Click it and read.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fine, it's a rule. But it's a stupid one, so fuck it.

[–]cuteman 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the US isn't that a felony?

[–]ThePigmanAgain 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, see /r/Floridaman

Also, do you have proof?

[+]Dunkcity239 -7 points-6 points-5 points 11 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Proof that I've seen videos of police being violent to women? Well you could spend 2 seconds on google or a few minutes browsing /r/bad_cop_no_donut

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Buddy, I'm not gonna waste my time searching for videos to back up your argument. The burden of proof is on you

Then don't make arguments you don't want to back up yourself, shithead
