Also, Republicans are the ones that got women the right to vote after decades of Democrat opposition, so all women should also be Republicans...

Democrats also enacted Segregation.
But that was quite some time ago... Have Democrats changed? Maybe. Do they support income equality FUCK NO!

I wonder, why does the USA have such an "us vs. them" mentality when it comes to Democrats and Republicans? I'd consider myself a Democrat and Liberal, yet I'm a fervent MRA and oppose certain things that the typical Democrat would support.

I'm not a Democrat, Liberal, or a Republican.

That was a great choice. Just like all the civil rights stuff.

That's a good way to get them to separate from feminism. After they separate, they can look up the history and find out it's not all sunshine and fairy farts in its history either.

That's really fallacious reasoning. That statement compares an ideology with a political party. Feminism is concerned with one issue (gender). The republican party is made up of a lot of different issues: gender rights, gun rights, taxes, etc etc etc.

Actually, if you google "ideology", the first example listed in the definition is "republicanism". It's true that "feminism" is nominally more focused than "republicanism", but a collection of ideologies can be considered an ideology itself. And "feminism" could also be considered a collection of ideologies if you really think about it. And even if republicanism couldn't be considered an ideology, it doesn't invalidate the argument - the logic was basically "Group X was good for Group Y, and Group A was good for Group B, but Group X is no longer particularly good for Group Y, therefore it's possible that Group A is no longer particularly good for Group B".

Not all women need to be Feminists. It's not a need, It is a want.

not all women --- US women's support for feminism has dropped to less than 18%. Other countries, notably in Europe, are less than that. So not a need or a want.

It is for some. I was not trying to imply that everyone wants to be a feminist. I'm pretty sure that if everyone wanted to be a feminist, feminism wouldn't exist.

Tell that to Kaley Cuoco.

What's she done now?
[–]MonkeyCB 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
She was asked if she identified as a feminist, to which she responded "no". Feminists started harassing and bullying her, until a few days later she issued a formal apology to the feminists.

Bullying her. That's a perfect way for someone to respect your opinion.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
From what I remember, she didn't really apologize - she basically just said that they were misunderstanding what she meant by it.

"I'm completely blessed and grateful that strong women have paved the way for my success along with many others. I apologize if anyone was offended. Anyone that truly knows me, knows my heart and knows what I meant. ❤️"

Okay it was sort-of an apology, but it wasn't a retraction - it was a clarification. The way I interpret this is "I'm grateful for the original, historical feminist movement, but I don't buy into the modern-day version, and that's what I was trying to say".
I'll tell her that, and I'll also tell her that short hair looks horrible on her in my opinion. Then, I'll tell her that she shouldn't care about my opinion, and should keep it if it makes her happy.

You miss the point of the post. It's to point out the logical conclusions given feminism's idea that all women need to be feminists to show how ridiculous the given premise is.
