Take a look at one of the questions that gave this result below:

"...among the control group that received brochures, about ten percent of the women reported they had been raped (defined as an assault during which a perpetrator used force, threats, or incapacitation through drugs or alcohol)"

So according to them 1 in 10 women was raped. But this is one of the questions they were asked. If they replied "yes"; then they were deemed to have been raped:

"Taking advantage of me when I was too drunk or out of it to stop what was happening [without my consent]"

"Advantage" mean inserting a penis, finger or other object into their vagina, mouth or rectum.

And note how the article says "incapacitation"; but the actually survey question does not!!!

Many, many people would not consider that this was rape; or at least it's very debatable. If a women gets drunk, goes back to a guy's place, and then has sex, but then regrets it when she is sober, then in her mind she can construct a scenario where she did not consent, because if she had been sober, she would not have had sex with him. And she did not "stop" because she was drunk. She would have "stopped" if she was sober.

This is the classic "anti-slut" defence: "…he got me drunk and took advantage of me". But the truth is that the women got drunk herself, and had regret-sex with the guy.

But that is not rape, unless she was so incapacitated, she could not have really consented. I wonder how many of the 10% who were "raped", only said yes to this question, and not yes to any questions that asked if they were raped by physical force etc?

And I wonder how many of those who took the full course, and then only reported a 5% rape figure, reported "less" rapes, because they had discussed the meaning of consent and the whole issues surrounding "rape", and then concluded that they now understood the question a bit better, and so reported less "rapes".

And I wonder how many "rapes" would have been reported if they had a control group who agreed to totally abstain from alcohol for the period of the research! I suspect the rapes reported would have been very low.

My guess is that didn't achieve anything at all. No forcible rapes, no drinks drugged, nobody abducted. My guess the reason the program worked? It stopped the women crying false rape. Taught them some responsibility for their own actions. If that's true most of the "rape" that is being eliminated is false rape.
