I work at Arby's part time. It's a shitty job, but there are people there who love it.

One of those people is named Randy (not really). He has two kids he loves to death but he recently got divorced.

Even though he's working a part time minimum wage job, the government takes half of his check for child support payments. He is being supported by his parents, since he works under 30 hours a week and can't afford to survive like that.

His exwife knows the situation he's in and actually tried to get the government not to force him to pay child support. But the powers that be said that if the ex was going to qualify for federal assistance, she necessarily must collect child support from Randy.

Randy told me yesterday that on his last day off, he got called in to work within minutes of seeing his kids on the rare occasion that he actually gets to be around them. And since he's so fucking poor, he had to go in.

If Randy works a ten hour shift, he makes forty dollars and change before tax. How the fuck is that legal?
