The reporter didn't get him fired. She interviewed him and the story went viral. She did her job, the camera and microphone were in plain view. The internet lynch mob got him fired.

This not a gender thing. Someone interrupted another person's job. They were interfering with that person's occupation. Gender has nothing to do with it.
