I find it interesting that the MRM will be quick to illegitimize the wage gap by bringing up the fact that men and women are attracted to different job options, but simultaneously state that the issue of workplace safety is indeed an issue that oppresses men, even though men voluntarily take those jobs.

You are using words but they aren't coming together in any way that makes sense.

The wage gap doesn't have to be 'illegitimize[d]' because there is no wage gap. Men work more hours and work more dangerous, higher paying jobs. Men and women DO earn the same pay for the same work. Men just work more.

Men being 95% of workplace deaths is an issue and it is discrimination that the sex difference is largely ignored by the public at large. That is not the same as 'oppression'.

The issue most MRA take with "The Wage Gap" isn't that there exists a difference in average pay for average men and average women on an annual basis. The issue we take with "The Wage Gap" is the assertion that it's "For the same work". It is not "The pay check fairness act" would do NOTHING to close the nearly non-existent gap "for the same work".

Furthermore, we take issue with the idea that the solution to this is for women to enter the higher paying professions. While this is PART of the solution, it is not a whole solution. De-gendering the higher paid professions is at best half a solution. We also need to de-gender the professions that allow for work/life balance and self fulfillment. We have "Women In STEM" campaigns to help get women into the higher paid fields. Where are the "Men in early childhood education/councling/social work/human services"? Male CEO's of fourtune 500's out number female CEO's 20:1. But female homemakers out number male homemakers 300:1. Getting men to participate in traditionally female jobs is way behind getting women to participate in traditionally male jobs.

Advocating for equality where it benefits women and inequality where it benefits women is not actually advocating for equality.
