Stories like this make me nervous. If the government isn't willing to buy peace from its own people than I won't feel sorry for bad things that will happen to the government. When large portions of the male population goes hungry and oppressed history has shown that the government in its current form doesn't last long. This is either through a revolution or having to cull a large portion of their male population and then the society can't simply sustain its current course. Men wouldn't necessarily be killed today but removing them from society and placing this giant burden to feed and house them will bankrupt a country like the UK.

I believe it. I was outright told by an at least honest worker that, when I was 19 and was pretty close to robbing people, that because I both am a man and had priorly freelanced, an 'enhanced investigation' would likely take place on my financial situation, and that I needed to try and get some money elsewhere. Sure enough, it did, and would have to wait a solid 2 months before getting any level of assistance. Thankfully, I scraped by on the skin of my teeth.
