Well intentioned, but still far too much room for judicial interpretation. Diagnosis can be a long term process for many illnesses.

Notwithstanding that, it's certainly a step forward.

It's a shame what happened to him, but parents have too much power over their children's medical care as it is. From kooky religious practices (faith healing, refusing treatment for various superstitions, etc.), to weird fads like anti-vaxxing, and of course, the prime offender: circumcision, these are all horrendous practices enabled by giving parents too much power over their children.
