It’s natural to be a little awkward when meeting people for the first time. Your issue is you’re assuming they think you’re weird. Always assume people like you until proven otherwise. Starting with that mindset will improve the way you project yourself and help things in general.

You asked what's known as an XY problem, where you have problem X but ask about attempted solution Y instead of addressing the underlying problem.

You gave three examples of validation what it took to get it. The common thread is familiarity. If they just get a chance to get to know you, you'll get your validation. But now you're faced with a dilemma, seeking validation from people you have no familiarity with. Maybe if you can just boost your charisma or "up your social proof," whatever that means in this context, then they will like you right off the bat, instant validation. That's attempted solution Y, but it doesn't address the underlying problem X, needing that validation in the first place.

Just look at what you wrote:

I’m otherwise limited to meeting mutual friends.

If this were about meeting people, you can meet whoever the fuck you want. But it isn't. This is about limiting your prospects to group of people who have enough familiarity to fit your existing formula in the absence of a new formula for prospects who are unfamiliar. It has nothing to do with meeting people.

Take time to reflect on why a guy such as you, with a great many friends and all these circles of people who love you and trust you, gives a flying fuck if a person who hasn't taken the time to get to know you gets not even put off, but seemingly put off. Ask yourself why you can't "meet" a person who doesn't immediately validate you. Forget charisma. Forget social proof. Ponder problem X.
