I will say this: she did present arguments from both sides. Although, whenever a statistic is quoted my first reaction is: [citation needed]. That's the scientist in me.

Any well spoken youtuber could make a video detailing the benefits and disadvantages of being a man, or a woman, (not to mention transgendered). This is fine. It's an open discourse and free speech. Arguing that the plight of one sex is more important or more disadvantaged is where I draw the line.

I believe that there is a "silent majority" of men that suffer, in silence. There are many Men's issues that don't see the light of day. Since they don't see the light of day, they don't enter into public discourse. I won't quote stats here, but men are far more likely to get killed on the job, kill themselves and kill each other than women. Prison rape? Well, we don't have accurate stats on that, at least from what I've researched.

I am quite certain that the men working on off shore oil rigs and in mining aren't thinking "You know, it's really not fair that this trade is dominated by men." They are more likely thinking: "I'm risking my life every day to help feed, clothe and house my family." Or even "I'm single and making tons of cash in a risky job."

Before gender equality and "The Patriarchy" can truly be addressed, both the feminist and mensrights camps need to appreciate that, yes, there are good and bad points to existing as either gender. Neither is inherently better or worse, it just is.

She loses me right in her first sentence. Our society does not value masculinity at all. In fact I would make the argument that our society demonizes masculinity. Our society has made it acceptable to label traits such as violence, rage, and aggression as masculine. Regardless of the fact that those traits are found in all genders.

If we take her definition of patriarchy at face value then we don't live in a patriarchy.

Probably not. This is the girl who made the "what about the menz?!" video, which was basically just a work of condescending bullshit to paint men as selfish/narcissistic for wanting to have male-specific issues addressed as well as female issues.

As for the patriarchy: people can keep redefining it all they want in order to make the buzzword fit their narrative, but it still is not a real thing. There are no concrete legal or social barriers keeping women out of "positions of power". Getting in to those positions takes a level of dedication and competitiveness that require one to put their working life ahead of all other parts of their life, family included. Women are at a biological disadvantage because they might get pregnant and have to take time off, and they lack the extra drive that testosterone provides. Unless we redefine patriarchy again to mean biology, I can't be convinced it exists.

The more I hear the word used, the more I hear people try to define it in modern social context, the more it sounds to me like a handy buzzword that means: men should be held back so women can overtake. Those who defend "patriarchy theory" almost always support a gynocentric brand of feminism in my experience.

"Patriarchy" is a feminist conspiracy theory that is intended to demean men as a class. Compare it with things like the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" of ZOG. It's a nut case theory made up by a hate movement to spread lies about a birth group they hate, and characterize them as a threat that must be attacked.
