If you think a particular point is invalid, why not argue against the validity of that point rather than painting a broad brush?

You will actually be allowed to do that here, whereas in other circles you would be immediately banned and censored.

If that's not a qualitative difference between the two movements, I don't know what is.

Thank you for posting your opinion. I am glad that I can come to a sub like this and read about a broad range of issues that I may not have considered before. I also appreciate that MRA's won't shut you up and shame you for holding opinions that are not in line with the majority opinion. I have read many feminist blogs and the one thing I have noticed is that the movement has been co-opted by close minded bigots. Websites like Salon and Jezebel have created a culture of group-think that has been toxic to the feminist movement. I am not going to argue that MRA's are all saints (this is the internet), however /r/MensRights and similar places give you a safe space to discuss the issues that affect men. Which is not this narrow focus of "big issues" that you feel it should be. Custody, rape, domestic violence, suicide, education, are important issues to discuss. At the same time issues that aren't as prominent among MRA's are also important to be able to discuss openly. The issue that you raise (objectification of men or women) is a real issue. I think that being treated as a "thing" is not good for either gender. I personally have been treated as a walking ATM machine and found it degrading to be treated in such a manner. Just like some women will feel degraded as being viewed as nothing but a sperm depository. It is important that we have a place to discuss these issues.

I encourage you to keep an open mind in regards to the topics that are posted. Just because you don't find a particular topic interesting does not mean it does not belong. There may be another person who that article has great importance for. Mind you I find many things to be mundane, however they still belongs.

Most MRAs are ex-feminists who clued in to the fact that despite claiming to be for equality, feminism did nothing for men. It's not surprising to see similarities in the issues that are discussed.
