Crosspost "Are men really that bad?" from /r/Vent:

My girlfriend just went on an hour long rant about how men are apperently shitty, disgusting, selfish, assholes, and how she's always wanted to date women over men. To preface this, I do care about her very much and she told me afterward that everything she said was not directed at me which made me kinda feel better but that's beside the point. I hear women talking about this kind of stuff all the time literally right in front of me, and I (having self doubt issues literally my whole life) feel like absolute dog shit after hearing it. I genuinely don't get why you would generalize literally half of the population, putting them down just because they are man. Even when men do it it's not ok. People are gonna be shitty regardless of what gender they are, so why are we attacking each other like this and then walk away thinking it's justified? It's really not, you're just being an asshole.
