It can’t just be a coincidence that Asians tend to be shorter for example with flatter faces (less forward growth) given their long term insistence of a diet that consists of soft foods such as rice. You will see a similar thing in many parts of Africa that are malnourished. The South Asian subcontinent is another good example. The norther you go, the harder and meaty their diets have been, which probably explains why people from Afghanistan and many parts of Pakistan have a higher chance of a protruding jaw/maxilla than someone from Southern India (vegan diet with less hard foods).

Traditionally, our human ancestors had straight teeth and strong jaws given our reliance upon strong high protein low calorie foods. The phenomenon of crooked teeth didn’t even exist until very recently. Only recently have times changed. Places which have now grown accustomed to very high calorie diets (United States or the UK) are already beginning to have shorter people on average and again less aesthetic faces on average compared to say Germany or Sweden that still have a more overall harder diet.

Mike Mew talks about how when you eat softer foods, you only need one generation or two for faces to start dropping, specifically the flesh around the maxilla and mandible to start dropping vertically rather than naturally extend horizontally, since your swallowing movements don’t need to work that much for softer foods, changing the posture of your face. This in turn implies the huge power of diet and environment to influence your attractiveness moreso than genes. This greatly impacts the aesthetics of your face given that forward growth is probably the number one determiner of facial attractiveness.
