Went to court 2 weeks ago for contempt. 3 issues she brought up. Ex was seeking 20k and 8 months jail time.

1st was not giving money to my daughters 529 college account. Instead I opened a separate account with the same company and donated there. Result, no harm and just transfer the funds as the order was horribly written (her 1st lawyer)

2nd contempt was being late on reimbursements for childcare. Child support was to end in September ‘23 and the Attorney General kept garnishing my wages for months after so funds were tight, I caught up 2 months prior to this hearing and the judge even said it was a waste of the courts time to bring this up. Result: I was in contempt and fined(not much $).

3rd contempt did not update the ex on extracurricular activities. Result slap on the hand and judge told me to communicate better.

During this process I discovered that ex didn’t like her first lawyer so she researched my attorney and found her previous law firm and decided to hire them. Well it was a new hire attorney that wasn’t with the firm at the same time as my attorney before her departure.

While waiting for my docket to be called, my lawyer gets a call from the attorney general child support division. My lawyer was notified that my ex has been eagerly calling to try to pay her child support directly through check instead of wage garnishment, which is the standard. I asked my lawyer is that possible she said no your ex is trying to do things her way. Before the contempt hearing started my attorney asked to go into chambers to hammer out the details. While in the back my ex’s attorney comes out to ruffle through paperwork leaving more time for my attorney with the judge. I’m sure she gave an update about the narcissist ex during the whole process. While hammering out the details, her attorney kept coming over to mine and insisting she wanted more money, which my attorney rebuttaled she’s not getting any. I could overhear the attorney’s conversations and the ex was complaining that she just paid me $130k+ for our divorce and I deserved to pay. During this whole time, I’m staring at her and she’s texting her mom that’s sitting directly behind her in court.

During the proceedings my lawyer tells me with the amount of the fine, it will basically just cover attorney fees for that attorney and she’ll be lucky if she even sees $200 because the law firm does not like writing checks back to clients (my attorney has first hand knowledge because she use to work at that firm). So court ended and I didn’t have to say a word everything was handled back in the judges chambers. And two days later when I was due to receive child support from her I didn’t not receive a penny.
