My wife (33) decided she wanted a divorce from me (36). She claims she is unhappy and won't elaborate on it at all. She says there's no one else she's just not happy.
It took a good month with a ton of counseling and help from friends and family, but I've mostly overcome the fact we won't work out so I filed to get things moving.
We have 2 children together my daughter (6) and my son(4). My daughter is enrolled in kindergarten and is doing great. My son will be set to start preschool this coming school year.
I will retain the family home in the divorce and my wife plans to move in with her sister 50 miles away.
She wants primary custody so she can pull my daughter out of school and move both children into her sister's house temporarily. My sister in law is a very toxic person and has a history of moving on a yearly basis.
I'm trying to retain the children are their current home. At least until my daughter finishes the school year. My wife would be welcome in the home whenever she pleases. Everything in their lives will be changing with the divorce. I just want them to be able to have some kind of consistency with the current school system, family home and presence of their father.
I'm in Michigan. I'm looking for advice in what I can do to keep the kids in their home. My wife has no job lined up. She's been a stay at home parent for 7 years now. Other than her sister's home she has nothing in the location she plans to move to. I really want to do a50/50 situation but she refuses simply stating she wants primary.
Please, any advice is appreciated. These kids are my world and I can't stand the thought of losing them.
