Need some help and perspective on my separation. I (37M) and my wife (35F) have become separated (last week), married over 10 years, together over 15 with two young girls.

Main reason is that about 3 weeks ago, i lost sight of our youngest daughter at a friends party (All okay thankfully, but my response with dealing with the situation in the moment was not right - I froze.). Since then, there was anger (obviously and fully acceptable) but I didn't see this coming from her perspective (I thought we were generally happy).

Then the words hit. It is irreconcilable from her side, and I need to be OK in front of the girls - OK

That she needs to find her self identity and that means she is already open to intimacy with others. (We had some intimacy issues, mainly stemmed from a lack of self confidence from my side but we had that conversation a few years back and I thought things were improved. From hers, she said she simply didn't desire me and hadn't properly for several years (Looking back I see it, there was no instigation, no real levels of affection - I blame myself deeply for this due to the confidence issues - I could not bring myself to talk about them to her on a deeper level.).

She is rather an open book with these topics with her peers - From my side, too open due to the conversations being with men and women; and some who will most definitely pursue her moving forwards, if not already (I recall hearing from her, that one of these said colleagues stated a few months back that she would be 'easy to get' - I know she would never have entertained the thought before the separation!)

That due to finances, I should consider staying in the house indefinitely for the sake of the children. This to me seems impossible to deal with from a grieving perspective, because of the intention she has with regards to intimacy with others (She wouldn't do that with the kids around, so the family home would remain a safe environment in that way). If i decided to leave, she'd understand; however states the impact it will have on the family (We own the family home together, I'd be the one moving out locally). I feel like i'm being shoehorned into staying for the sake of the kids in a fake family setting - She never wants to tell them due to her parents separating when she was young and the impacts she feels it had on her.

I don't have any friends who I talk to, nor any real support locally - To be honest, I'm a massive introvert who has completely relied on her to fill the gaps in my life (The family are my complete world), and now that's gone, i have nothing left to fill those silent moments (Which i have many).

What do I do?
