I ran up multiple credit cards my wife didn’t know about. Now she knows and not surprisingly wants a divorce. Don’t blame her, but don’t want her + kids to pay for my mistakes. She can’t afford to keep our house by herself. I don’t want her + kids to have to leave, destabilizing their lives. One child is on Autism Spectrum and change can = bad.

Considering co-ownership of the house and accepting I will live like a pauper to make things work. All debt is in my name and I am going to accept full responsibility for them. Mortgage is also solely in my name but soon-to-be ex has rights of survivorship.

Wife still loves me but I have betrayed her trust several times over finances. I’d been warned before and forced her hand. Things are too fresh and she can’t fathom how she could ever trust me again.

I admit I need counseling — for a long while — but hope to reconcile someday. Will likely take a few years or more. We are both Christians, but I of course haven’t acted like it.

Curious of others who have tried to walk the long road of redemption and reunification with their family.
