For those who gonna soon finally come to end of the divorce and who have a joint mortgage , and plan to sell the house :

  • there is an opportunity to take over the mortgage interest
  • extremely beneficial if you have a good percentage; difference between 2/3 and current 5/7 percent is massive monthly and long term
  • in my case, one of us had to waive their right to claim it
  • could be only take by one person
  • i had to pay my ex lump sum to confirm she is willing to give it up; she knew i benefit from it, hence didn’t want to sign

So, make sure you don’t forget about this option ,and count in for that

There is typically 3-6 month to transfer mortgage interest, so you have to be fast as well
