Anyone ever deal with a military co-parent that is being ORDERED somewhere else? I.e., deployment, PCS, etc.

As far as I am concerned. The custody order (not even a year old) explicitly says the child cannot relocate out of state without permission of other parent or the court.

I’m not fucking leaving. I can’t upend my life every 12-18 months. We have joint custody. I will get a lawyer, again, and fight tooth and nail. I’ve finally been able to find a stable, government job that I enjoy.

I have friends. I have promotions and leases and memberships. Commitments and property I can’t just pack in my trunk and follow in step to convenience someone who put me through hell. Someone that made me homeless when I was the SAHD. Didn’t let me see my child for 6 whole months. Sympathy was beaten out of me.

I would hope the court will favor me here… but I trust nothing. It took 30k to get joint custody. Money I didn’t have. But I fucking found it because I love my daughter more than anything else in this world. Hell, I was selling plasma and going to food pantries. I got a roommate and cashed out my retirement. I fought so hard for some stability in my life and now it’s back to more fighting.

I know the uniformed service member custody laws basically say they can’t lose custody due to military service. But that doesn’t mean they can just take the kid wherever and expect the other parent to follow infinitely.

More of a vent post. Just hate conflict. Hate not being able to truly feel like I’m settled down.
