There is not much you can do. She is a stay at home mom. Get a mediator if she is amicable. Do not escallate. Do not lawyer up. Once she lawyers up youre toast.

If you are looking to not get screwed, then forget any verbal deal with your ex. You are now a businessman in a sole proprietorship. Go for 100 percent of everything and start dealing from there. Amicable is when the woman leaves the house and takes every dollar and every debt they brought in on Day 1. You only need to keep your mouth shut, avoid confrontation, don't leave your house, and do what your lawyer tells you to do.

Get in shape.
Get medical help with anxiety and sleep if you need.
Calm down.
Don't make deals with your ex-partner.

Assuming you can afford it, absolutely lawyer up and file first. You can always drop it if you can reconcile. Here's what happens when you don't:

Wife files a restraining order. You'll have up to 5 20 minute sessions to move everything you want. You won't be able to see your minor children if you have them, because that would require you to be within 500 feet of her. If she says you violated the order, with no evidence, you will be arrested, then the judge will see it's trash, but you will spend the night in jail first. At your first hearing, you'll be told how much you have to pay her to sleep with other dudes in your house. A year and a half later, you'll get a ruling from the judge, then spend another $50k trying to adjust anything, child support, alimony, seeing your kids, anything.

Learn a new language, renew your passport, and start over. You're a man, you have no real rights in the courtroom.
