My wife 25F and myself 26M have been married for almost 5 years(no children). Prior I enlisted in the Army in 2016 and met her in 2019. My current status is I'm active duty based out of Utah.

Here's the situation. We used to be very active during the first year of our marriage going out alot and experiencing things together then I received orders for Korea and extended to take her and our dog with us (two year tour). This new unit was much more fast paced and I was also enrolled as a 3/4 time student. When we weren't conducting mandatory field training I was put on up and down shifts at the hospital and had toxic leadership as well. This affected my mental health quite a lot.

Some back ground on my health issues or substance abuse. When I turned 21 I, like many, experimented with alcohol but after the hard stuff I resorted to products like budwieser that were not too strong since I had responsibilities with work, school, and my relationship.

Fast forward to Korea again I used alcohol as my crutch after work or after completing arduous schoolwork or after a two week field exercise. I was miserable with my job and seeked mental health which they told me to just quit the substance abuse and assigned a case worker whom appointments could take 3 months. All of my responsibilities academically and with job culminated in my wife feeling left out and feeling like she didn't have a husband despite watching me deteriorate. She started talking to her Ex of 8 years I believe (since she was a 13yo), and others of up to 4-5 from what I know.

Currently my unit in Utah is alot more relaxed with a 4 day work week but I still weekly abused alcohol until a few days ago. She went on vacation back to her home state in Maryland where I learned from looking in her phone (yes I know, not the best thing to do) she cheated on me with her Ex and bragged to another military spouse and was planning on meeting another in Georgia.

We've since stopped talked as of earlier this week and are planning on divorce but I think she may not want to in the back of her mind. Regardless, do you think I should stay granted I get the care I need(appt tomorrow for mental health and naltrexone, sober for 3 days)?

She wants one of my cars that I've been paying off for 5 years and put down 5K for for her to get to work and have been paying the car payment and insurance. Does she get any say for the vehicle legally? I don't want her to have it.

The other big issue is our dog. He's a siberain husky and he's my wife's dog on AKC but I paid 300$ for and she paid 200$ for back in 2019. He hardly gets real physical exercise from her and always gets it from me and has chosen me as his main parent like most dogs do from my knowledge. I as an E5 in the Army can't keep him in the housing we have if we divorce, however, if I promote I may be able to. I've read that dogs and looked at as property but if I can explain I've paid most of his puppy and adult vet bills, food, etc. could I retain ownership through the court.

Lastly she wants to do a mediation divorce but I want to fight for my assets and pet. I've looked at one lawyer outside of SLC but haven't consulted them or military JAG office yet. Any suggestions?

Thank you for reading my rant.
