Married 5 years one child, wife wants divorce. Our marriage was never happy, it was loveless, and we were both miserable, but the prospects of divorce is overwhelming. Even though I hated being at home I still feel a connection to her due to our years together. There's comfort in family. There's comfort in coming home. We've done some sort of separation a few times in which I sleep out at night, but come to see my child every day. I slept in my parents' basement last night, and I figured that if we do divorce, I will literally have nothing, as she will take more than half my paycheck due to alimony and child support, and also get half my 401k. She would keep the apartment, and I would be stuck in my parent's basement. Is it really worth it? Not that I have much choice in the matter, because she is the one who wants out. Things took a turn for the worse yesterday when she told me that she started talking to men online recently. She said that we can stay married if we live like roommates and coparent, and have an open marriage. I felt betrayed by this, even though again it was a loveless marriage, and I was the one to suggest an open marriage a while back. I'm just overwhelmed right now and drowning with emotion with the idea of her being intimate with other men while we're married. This hurt me more than the idea of getting divorced. I really don't want to see her at all now that she told me about this. But I still want to see my son everyday and I'm not sure how this can be done if I don't see her. The strange thing is I feel like I lost her, even tho h I never liked being with her. Just so strange all these motions going through me. Sorry for this ramble, I'm just overwhelmed right now. Thank you for your support.
