Wednesday we got together and signed papers for uncontested. Agreed on a parenting plan and had it all notarized by one of her friends. After everything was said and done I rushed to the door and she insisted on walking me out. She asked how I’ve been and I responded in kind. She filled me in on how she’s been doing and handling her situation and I did too. We had a very long hug and I told her “I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t think about you” and she smiled and nodded, had another long hug and called it a night. She asked for me to let her know when I got home. Thursday morning I woke up feeling just fine. Not good or bad but…..middle of the road. I reached out to her and she seemed to put the wall back up. No problem. She scanned the paperwork and emailed it to me and filed at the court house. I’m not feeling sad or depressed. Is that normal? When we initially separated last year it felt like the sky was falling. Like I couldn’t live without her and at one point I entertained suicidal thoughts. I didn’t go through that because I selfishly want to watch my son grow up. We tried to make it work another year up until the beginning of February and she called it off again and I fell hard again. But today after only a 3-4 months of grieving I’m feeling just fine. I can’t believe the journey so far but I didn’t think I would feel so okay by it at this point. Any of you fine gentleman experience this?
