I am about to go through a divorce and my parents have offered to assist with my legal fees. With everything I am very financially tight right now so it would be less stressful If my parents paid the lawyer directly but another option is that IP the lawyer directly and then my parents would reimburse me as to not have to make everything stressful.

From the legal standpoint and for division of assets or other sorts of things like that does it make any difference who pays the lawyer? Does it matter if they pay them directly or if I get reimbursed somehow is that some thing that could come back to bite me in the end?

A little more background; both my wife and I work I make roughly 30% more than she does and she makes plenty to survive so I know in Virginia she’s not entitled to any alimony because she makes enough.
