This is the safe-edgy version of certain men joking about wanting to be rape victims. 'Look how tough, manly, and heterosexual I am!' I believe feminists call this "machismo" or "toxic masculinity." My problem with the "toxic masculinity" term isn't that it doesn't exist, but that there isn't much gender-focused discussion about how toxicity presents itself in people who aren't men and in workplaces where men are the minority (ex: nurse hazing)

This joke is all about manly men proving to other people how woman-centered they are by claiming that they are OK with losing their dignity, control, and safety for illusions of romantic success. In this particular case, they are signalling to women that they can "suck it up" and that they fit a traditional model of masculinity that is paradoxically compatible with anti-male ideology.

Similarly, the whole "I'm not a feminist, I'm a misandrist" sentiment is also a performance - a very misandrist one. Feminism itself already has latent misandry beginning with its central patriarchy thesis, alleging that there is a conspiracy of men that keeps women down and makes them the inferior sex (see de Beauvoir's Second Sex). Of course, some go even further and start other-ing the men to prove their loyalty to the in-group.

Performances are not harmless. The outcome of performing misandry is to normalize it and mainstream the toxic discourse to the point of promoting male expendability and other anti-male outcomes. Misandry used to be isolated to The View and FB groups, but we now have police departments like Bedfordshire's (UK) labelling some crimes as "MVAWG" ("Male Violence Against Women and Girls") while not giving similar labels to other crimes (TW: domesic violence hospitalization, this crime also happened in Bedfordshire btw)
