To someone who literally was passed over this week on a job I feel this. The kind of job that would be a big step up for just about anyone in the field; in pay, in prestige, etc.

I have 19 years of high quality experience, a strong, proven track record of success, already existing rapport with clients (two of my letters of rec were from two of the most important people I would be directly dealing with in the job), and had quick, relevant and logical answers to every single interview question.

The 23 year old girl they hired instead was fresh out of college with less than 6 months of real world experience, with no connections that were relevant.

The panel was almost all female, including the 2 ultimately making the decision.

I'm not accusing them of "girl boss bias", BUT those were the words used by one of the two people that now have to work with her when I told them they didn't go with me for the job. The other said outright "it's cause you're a straight white man".

And both of those people are women.

This is very confusing to me. On the one hand it's saying if you don't think the "best person" could be a woman, or POC, then that is because you are overtly racist of misogynistic. Which I kind of agree with, the best talent comes in all forms.

Then they say the 'best person' argument has allowed white men to claim everything forever. If a white man is the best person, they are the best person ?

I am very confused about what the person is trying to say.

I'm a white man, but I'm autistic, so I'm never the "best person for the job". They'd rather hire some dumbass who has no idea what they're doing just because they're "a better fit for the job". While we're on the topic of autistic men, misandrists absolutely despise us. We face the brunt of misandry because we're "creepy" or "weird", and we're stereotyped as "incels".
