There is also a third category which is false positive emotions (things like lust; greed, which deal a lot with fantasy, etc) but those to me are more states of being (the highest form of emotion as it involves the entire physiological embodiment of that emotion)
I don't understand how lust and greed are "higher" than other emotions or involve more of our physiology. Anger for example involves the whole body.
Radical acceptance is what I call a perception shifting tool where we shift our perception of something being unjust (this person hurt me, how dare they) to something more calm (this person hurt me, and that sucks but I can’t change what has happened and how others treat me. Yet I can be grateful for this experience by learning from it so that I won’t get hurt this way in the future)
Radical anything tends to be harmful. Sometimes you should just accept what happened, but some things shouldn't ever be accepted. Anger and a sense of wrong and injustice can be great tools for motivating corrective action and standing up for yourself. If someone sexually assaults you anger is very appropriate and its toxic to suggest the victim should accept the rape and suppress their anger.
Looking at negative emotion this way you realize that negative emotions are just as healthy and good as positive emotions because to know who you truly are you must experience who you are not.
No these negative emotions are just as much a part of who you are as the positive ones. They aren't as healthy and good as positive emotions, and tend to be more problematic. Instead the primary reason "negative emotions" are beneficial is they are helpful in many real-life situations. Anger helps you fight, lust motivates you to seek relationships, sadness tells you things aren't right, and jealousy says you can do better.
In the next post you will learn what I call the emotion ladder and all the ways emotion is produced in us.
I hope this is based on actual neuroscience.

Radical acceptance is a hallmark dbt technique used to help people (mainly people with bpd) regulate their emotions and heal from deep rooted trauma abandonment to live a more meaningful life.
It was pioneered by Marsha Linden the founder of dbt therapy and fellow borderline herself.
When I talk negative emotions here I am not saying not feeling negative emotions is wrong or will not happen. Personally I do not believe in right or wrong actions. I used to and was quite miserable etc. today I live a life of mostly joy and peace because I changed my perception on what is negative energy; actions, people or what society calls bad people.
Thus I am talking here about if you wish to heal your trauma then you are best to reverse the polarity of what that trauma makes you feel.
Your comments about Sexual abuse are accurate.
However I have personally experience Sexual abuse and molestation and have used these very techniques to not only heal from that trauma; but be grateful for the experience as a result of it and other linked experiences I have been able to help others with their own similar abuse and similar outcomes as well. It is not for everyone, but it does help.
Lust; greed, rage/wrath are higher emotions because they essentially influence you entire perception of reality.
List comes after desire and tends to involve your entire perception of life. You’d do anything for this person. Give anything. Thus it is highly unbalanced in my opinion because a partner should revolve their life around their partner, but rather the two should add and complement each other.
All emotions have a state of being (positive and negative) and are a result of emotions not being checked or being fuelled by not properly managing them (reversing the polarity)
Another example, worry if unchecked turns to fear which turns into panic which turns into paranoia ( a fear state) followed by anxiety (the highest fear state possible)
If you look at the symptoms of anxiety you see that anxiety is essentially someone living in fear to the point where they are immobilized in many areas.
If you want to throw neuroscience in here, then all one would need to do (Dr Huberman’s Lab is doing this right now) is measure the neuro chemical release felt during each stage of the emotion being felt.
There are other experiments you can do at home provided you have a high amount of physical and mental self awareness.
People forget or don’t really understand that emotions like behaviour patterns become ingrained within us the more we emote one way and the less we emote the other which has to do with the pruning process (our brains natural ability to forget unused neuro connections/patterns of emotion behaviour etc)

And this is coming from?
I'm sorry but it's a little weird how you're using this subreddit to write your personal self help blog
Its not a personal self help blog.
Its simply insights to help others based on my own experiences and relating to things men struggle with.

Some of these are the emotions (lust, etc.) that come from our amygdala (limbic system). These are often, but not always, uncontrollable (unless you're intentionally practicing like Monks do). This is connected to our fight, flight, freeze, fawn system. It includes fear/dread/terror. This is what helps the mind and body escape bad situations and is essential for our survival.

Yes actively practicing would be the goal.
I have been actively practicing myself as I have a disorder that involves a higher sensitive amygdala.
Being as present as possible; adopting the dbt stop technique and other dbt techniques have been immensely helpful at managing these autonomic emotional responses.
Don’t forget our brain is a muscle because it is intorely plastic.
Sure it’s more so plastic as a child but studies have shown ways to make it just as plastic in adulthood but like you said you have to put in the work and constantly be doing it.

Right, but usually that all requires a level of awareness to get to that point. It's not something that happens overnight and it's something society rarely gives us grace to learn. I too have a hyper-sensitive amygdala and it is just awful. I'm sorry that you also experience the issues that stem from that. I have not done DBT but I hear great things.
