Thoughts on Patrice O'neal?

As I get older a lot of patrice's views seem to make sense because I've been through so many experiences that he has talked about but that does not mean he is correct about everything

You can be a feminist in an MRA and you can both hold feminist and Men rights views at the same time

A lot of approaches says is true because not every woman is mature or smart and every woman is not the same but there are some women who do have examples of toxic femininity or are filled with it and will use that femininity as a weapon or an advantage

That little girl in elementary school who gets out of trouble by using her femininity and stating that she is a girl is doing exactly that

She know she can get away with something her male counterparts can't because she is a girl whether that be for positive or benefit. The same could be saying about a man though you see more and more of this going away as time goes on.

I am a white male. My opinion is limited to what i see as an outside observer. But i find that there are specific problems within certain black communities in the USA that also influence the way that many black people approach dating. And the way many black people approach dating is merely a reflex of deep structural problems related to the struggle of being a black person in america. Simply put, there are way too many "hoochie" culture and "toxic masculinity hip hop" culture in some black communities in the USA. You'll not really see overweight women calling in on a dating show claiming they want a rich boyfriend and stressing about their ex drug dealer boyfriend like you see in a Kevin Samuels show, for instance, which has a predominantly black audience. Prioritizing money in a date or dating drug dealers is the reflex of growing up in poverty and in an harsh envrionment of criminality, like so many black communities are unfortunately troubled with. This is to say that Patrice O'Neal may be simply speaking of his observations from the communities he's from (typical californian black communities) and is a niche observation specific to that envrionment.

While a lot of truth is said in jest, comedy is about discomfort, and how we cope with it.

So while a comedian can make sense as they are making you laugh... they are directing your awareness through a lens that is inherently absurd. They are highlighting the inherent absurdity of life.

Because life IS absurd.

We are in a rush, constantly, and yet we have no idea where we are going or why for most of our lives. And by the end of it all, we just want to slow things down because we can't keep up and... there is no point to rushing around.

If you want to grow out of the red pill mindset, you need to understand that relationships are simple - they are simply the way you relate. You can have relationships with women, with food, with money, with your friends, and with yourself. And the HEALTH of your relationships is based entirely on whether or not you ENGAGE in healthy relationship habits.

Relationship health, like physical health, is about hygiene, nutrition, activity, rest, and paying attention to what you are relating to.

Too much exercise, too much water, too much rest, too much attention you are paying, too much of anything can be unhealthy.

Also, not enough can be unhealthy.

Health, as a concept, is not something you have or don't have. It is a yardstick - because you only have 0 health if you are dead. Everything above 0 health means you have health... but you can only be as healthy as YOU can be.

Likewise, a relationship between 2 people can only be as healthy as the healthiest that both people can be by themselves, which predicts how healthy they can be with each other.

There is nothing wrong with Patrice, but he's a comedian. So he is an artist, and artists simply create art that is a reflection of their environment. That art either speaks to people because it connects with their experience of the world in some way...

Or it doesn't.

Undoubtedly, some of what Patrice has said makes sense to you because it was true for you at the time. But in getting older and wiser, you have recognized that sometimes things can be true while still not being the whole truth. Certainly some women and some men fit into various stereotypes and patterns, but you never know when an INDIVIDUAL will break from the mold no matter how many stereotypes you observe them embodying. Because people are complicated.

Think about how much time someone would have to spend with you to understand you completely, accurately, including your intentions. How long is long enough?

How much time does it take before you FEEL like you understand someone well enough to feel like you have judged them fairly. Do you think other people are less, more, or equally complicated than you to understand?
