I actually know a man whose been falsely accused. He’s never brought this up when people are talking about rape, unless someone brings up false accusations— and only to say they are incredibly rare and that he’s experienced it but actually being raped is worse.

For context: the woman has serious mental health issues that lead her to make up false stories to get attention (which is incredibly rare as most mental health issues don’t have a component of making up fake stories— I think its actually the cocktail of specific disorders that she has that causes that rather than a single disorder). She’s made up hundreds of stories over the years (including back in high school that I stole money from her). She’s be homeless if not for her parents putting up with her— despite her making up terrible stories about them too (which her siblings corroborate as false). I feel bad for her, because she’ll never be able to live a normal life and probably belongs in a psych ward— she was a little crazy in high school but it’s gotten way worse over the years. The man I mentioned, dated her when they were 15. She was already making up little stories then, but when they broke up she created this grandiose story about him raping her.
