Going through this right now too. For once I started to notice a few red flags. In the past I was guilty of rushing into everything in relationships rather than take my time and I think a part of the reason was the whole “we’re both in the military and what happens when the other person leaves”. I’ve been divorced for 3 years now but I told myself I’m taking my time in the next relationship I get into.

I’ve been talking to this guy for almost 2 months now but just recently I took a step back to think things over. I know in my heart of hearts this wouldn’t work out in the long run so I’m preparing myself for the break up speech. Early on he admitted he has issues with loneliness but I get it, we all get lonely at times and want someone to connect with. I’ve spent a lot of time alone and I’m comfortable when I am alone, I find things to do to occupy my time or talk to friends and family on the phone. He has hobbies too but I can sense his biggest issue is he doesn’t want to end up alone and after 3-4 weeks of talking he was trying to lock it down asking if he could be my boyfriend. I told him I wanted to take things slow and I don’t like to slap labels on things for a long time. He respected that but I know it still bothers him.

I think the biggest issue is he’s on the fence with kids and I for sure don’t want them. For context, he just turned 30 and I’ll be 30 in a few months. Matter of fact, I have an appointment next week to see if I can get my tubes taken out! Either way, this serious talk is happening soon.
