I have two situations that puzzle me enough to have me type this out, but also know ahead of time that I'm not entertaining either of these men anymore after the behaviour was exhibited.
So the first guy was a decent connection on hinge, made solid effort, and we ended up having a good FT vibe check. Cut to me sending a follow up message that he didn't respond to, so I blocked the connection. The next morning, I see a friend request and message, indicating that he wasn't sure if he had done something to delete me by accident or if I wasn't feeling it - "regardless, here I am!" I took this as a positive move, so I allowed the conversation to continue. It trickled from here, wherein he asked about getting together the past week, never initiated a time or date, and has since gone silent, but remained on my facebook. I just deleted him, but I thought it was so weird that he went out of his way to find me, only to ghost yet again.
The second guy was odd. So he's older and divorced, and right away his conversation was very straightforward about his intentions, what he was looking for in a relationship, and initiated a FT call within 12 hours. It went well, though I do think he was a chatterbox and asked a lot of personal questions quickly. I still liked him enough to chance a vibe meet (I know FDS doesn't like those chill settings, but I like to be able to leave quickly - I'm also clear that it is not a date, but a chemistry test). We met at a park, chatted easily and made good jokes. I will say he seemed a bit over the top. He delved into politics and we got on the topic of feminism, which left me feeling defensive (annoying!!)
I cooled off, we got back to the chill fun. Then he asked me about my feelings about camping, and before I really answered, he was like "Oh would you go camping with me?" and my immediate reaction was "Uh no, stranger." He also made another reference to travelling together when I said I wanted to see some things. Basically, he did these things where he made me feel like I was auditioning to play his next wife, and I was sitting there like "I don't know who you are, sir." Not that he was rude! He was kind, and we did share a lot of values like religion and family. I'm just weirded out by how quickly he got personal. When I left, he gave me a hug and made it seem like he was very interested in more time together, but said the ball was in my court if I'd like to see him again. I messaged him today to feel it out, and he did not respond within 9 hours, so I deleted the match. I hate overthinking about guys who I don't even know if I like yet!!
Anyway, is his behaviour of getting so personal come across only as a red-flag? My male roommate suggested he just didn't want to waste time, being a divorced man. It's irrelevant in this specific case, but I am still left puzzled.
I must say, the blocking immediately when I feel some kind of negative vibe is very freeing. My list of open convos is way more manageable now, as OLD can be overwhelming with the wishy-washy conversations.
