I’m 25F and have had three significant long-term relationships. I know that may not seem like a lot, but it is what it is. My latest relationship ended out of nowhere, with the guy rebounding THREE DAYS LATER and is now in a long term relationship with her (someone we both knew whom he complained about a lot). I have a lot of frustrations, but mostly I’m frustrated that the men I’ve encountered expect the women they’re with to support them in a high-pressure and time-consuming career. However, when I need/ask for the most basic support, it becomes an arduous task for them! I’m a conductor (former band director) and my LTR my first couple years of teaching was really unhealthy (later found out by working with my therapist that it was emotionally abusive). I almost didn’t apply to grad school because of this guy. Every single guy I’ve dated has been a musician in the profession, so understands the demands of hours of rehearsals, having to be at football or basketball games for a long time, the pressure of putting on concerts, but for some reason there’s this double standard for when they need support versus when I need support!

I feel like I am a solid person that would make a great partner, but I’m not willing to compromise what I want for my career. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places, but I’m frustrated at not even knowing where to start dating! I’m trying to avoid dating other musicians, but honestly it seems like those people have the most in common with me. Any advice is welcome. I just discovered this sub and I love that is boss ladies standing up for each other, because men are f**king disappointing.
