How to avoid time wasters on Tinder?

I cut them off after a few rounds, and ask for his number so we can talk on the phone. I use the number to look up his name on a reverse lookup app. I check out his LinkedIn to ensure he's not a loser.

If he's not up to my standards, then I delete him. If he won't tell me what he does for a living, I delete him. If he's cagey about what he does for a living, I delete him.

Today I was messaging with a guy who wouldn't answer the question, "So, what do you spend your days doing?" He kept saying, "oh, I have these clients, and I own a bunch of their stock, and they are trying to raise money, so I'm not going much for them right now..." And mentally, I'm drumming my fingers and wondering how much longer he's going to keep equivocating. Why can't he just tell me what he does for sticking living?

Because he doesn't have a job, that's why. I told him I don't date men who can't or won't tell me basic info about their lives, like what they do for a living. Delete, block, done.

I'm not going to waste my time dating a loser. Fuck that.

Stop responding as much. Keep some mystery to you, make him want more.

I’ve never had this problem but it’s because my notifications are off and I barely check the app. I’ll have a nice conversation with someone, then get busy with life, and come back to see that they already asked for my number/asked if they could meet in person. The trick to not getting stuck in long discussions with people on tinder that don’t end up going anywhere is to not engage in long discussions at all.

It's kind of part of of the tinder game, but doesn't have to be. Hint early on that you'd rather talk about this stuff over dinner and 99% of the time he'll get the hint and ask you out.

Make sure you avoid the "let's talk every day until then" trap. It's false intimacy and low effort. Make a date and tell him you'll see him there. Besides, you find out almost nothing about someone over text. In person is the way to go.
