(First post) For context I am in my senior year of high school and I will be turning 18 soon after I graduate.

I made a promise to myself when I was fourteen years old that I wouldn't date at all until I was an adult. I decided this for several reasons:

  1. My options suck. The dating pool in my high school is contaminated with trash people who think dressing up means putting on their nice carhartt pants.

  2. I don't want to waste my best years on some loser who will probably never get out of minimum wage jobs.

  3. I don't want everyone in my business. When you date a classmate or someone who goes to your school everyone feels the need to stick your nose in your business.

  4. Dating someone you see every day allows them to put in less effort as you both 'spend soooooo much time together'

  5. I'm not where I want to be in life yet and I'd rather secure my self in that vision first before I commit to someone else.

This choice has saved me from a lot of drama and stress. I'm so glad I have stuck to it up to this point. However, and this is the same old story, I met this guy that I really like we have great chemistry, he is so funny, and he has a heart of gold but he doesn't meet my standards.

Now don't stress ladies, I am not going to break my promise to myself, these past for years will not have been for nothing. Plus everytime I considered making an exception that guy had to go and prove himself a LVM. It just fucking sucks, that's all.
