From my experience using apps during lockdown, it’s so easy for Low Value dudes to pretend to be High Value when dating and speaking virtually.

It’s a given that some LVM will show their qualities immediately. But I’ve (23) spent about 6 weeks wound up with a guy who, on the surface, has all the traits of a HVM; he has said: - Past relationships have thought him that he wants something serious (and has given me genuine stories of why). - He is committed and values honestly, being direct, keeping to his word. - He really values talking to me.

However in the past week its been increasingly common that he says he will text or call and doesn’t, takes ages to reply, never really initiates text or call, sometimes in the middle of a call he will hang up to take a shower and will “call me back in 30mins” but never does.

It’s made me realise that a guy can use this period to fantasise about, and describe himself as an “ideal boyfriend”. And because of the lack of physical face-to-face contact right now, it takes a while to realise the bluff.

And the annoying thing is that “fading out” like this doesn’t even give me a good opportunity to take him to task on how he is treating me. It’s either break up (where he might get what he wants anyway) or put up with it and trust that quarantine is a weird time and he might be going through some stuff and genuinely not be able to fully commit.

Any advice?

I’m thinking of putting dating on hold until the quarantine is over (UK based), it’s way to easy for someone to hide their true traits right now, and it’s just not worth the effort.
