What is soon to be fiancée? Either he has asked for your hand in marriage, or he has not. Read the handbook. You can’t pick and choose which strategies you want to follow and which ones to ignore.

Ask yourself if you can stay with this person if he never changes. He most likely won’t. It’s hard enough to change yourself- let alone another person. He has to want to change for himself, not for you, and it sounds like he doesn’t. HVM want to be the best version of themselves. He doesn’t sound high value.
