My father can be a quite good person... At times. For example, has bought quite a lot of things for me, including tickets for concerts, a record player and much more.

Most of the time though, he is an absolute manbaby. I am currently 16 years old and my mother has given me the advice to never date a man who never lived alone.

My mother does the cooking, my mother does the cleaning, my mother does the laundry... And she never complains to my father. Ever.

My father however, sits on the couch, has no basic hygiene and all he does is pay my mum compliments from time to time that don't refer to what she is, but to her appearance and what she does for him. He has a toddler-like attitude and often is very insensitive, his emotional intelligence is equal to that of a stone. He never takes her out on a date, he never surprises her, he never really shows her that he actually values her a lot. He just takes her for granted.

My mother on the other hand, is ashamed of him, even in front of me and my siblibgs and it gets very obvious. As I have already mentioned, he has no basic hygiene. (If you don't want to be grossed out, skip this part! Trust me, it gets very gross) Wherever he sits, it stinks afterwards. When my mum and I once visited him at work (he's self-employed), my mum managed to find, I kid you not, his jeans, including shit stains on the inside. She seened to be upset so I asked her what happened, but she didn't tell me what she found, she barely outlined it and quickly went on to a different topic. Every time my father was on the toilet, you have to clean the seat afterwards because there are often shit stains on the toilet seat.

No one ever talked to him about his problem with hygiene, because of his toddler-like attitude. He would get angry if anyone did.

He tends to comment on women's appearances quite a lot. (Don't read this part if you're triggered by creepy comments by men) When I was mabe 12, I was wearing a shirt that showed a bit of my collar bones, although I usually wear things that only show my neck. My dad saw me and told me that I "can already wear shirts with cleavage" while clearly referring to my breasts growing. Gross.

This is one of the reasons why I joined this community. As sad as it sounds, I don't want to end up like my mum. I don't want to end up with what my mum ended up with. She deserves so much better and I know that once I start dating, I will deserve better too. I know my value and my mother should know hers too.
