Absolutely. I'd rather find out what I am dealing with right from the jump instead of waiting until I get suspicious. If I have little to nothing invested, it's much easier to cut someone off if I find something unsavory.
I use Google and Bing to search people and their usernames. Court records. Even the sex offender registry. And I have found an absolute ton of shit on people. Assault charges, child support judgments, multiple DUIs, thirsty dudes trying to shoot their shit at Instagram models, debts, unsavory political views, and so on. I've recently started using reverse image searches as well. I don't feel bad about it at all, because 1. The things I find are a matter of public record, or information that these guys put out there of their own volition, and 2. Background checks are a matter of course for businesses when looking to hire because they want to protect their interests. We stand to lose as much, if not more, if we choose incorrectly. So it makes perfect sense for us to do our due diligence.
