I'd argue (not playing devil's advocate, just a different POV), that it's different being older. I'm 53, twice married for 25 years. I'm super, SUPER okay with permanent dating, living apart together. I get that FDS is aimed primarily at younger women. I do think for younger women, the stakes are MUCH higher in terms of marriage, living together, equitable money and household chores, and I get that and support that utterly.

But having been there, done that twice, there are times when marriage isn't on the table, and defying conventional expectations is what works. I would say also that there would have to be extensive vetting; it would take longer to get to know him for real, since with living apart, a narc or abuser could keep up the mask for longer; and there would need to be monogamy, so there is that. Pluses and minuses for all situations.
