I was talking to a guy who seemed really interested, and was cute, and in the process of vetting him. And then he asked me if I had work today. It's Thursday. Now, there are swing shifts, 4 day work weeks, rotating schedules, etc! So that in and out itself is not the red flag.

But it is curious, because we're both about 30 years old and a typical schedule is Monday to Friday obviously. A lot of part time jobs, service work, minimum wage jobs, stuff like that operate on weekly schedule. So it was odd enough for me to ask him about his schedule because well at 30 these are not careers. He said it's the off season now and outside of handling events he will need to get a second job. I pressed him and was blunt. I told him at 31 you should be well into your career and not talking about a second job. (Not out of necessity anyhow, if you want to work more to get more paper then by all means!) He tried to play it off by saying "you're telling me haha" but I said yeah you can try to pretend it's funny but it's just sad. He said yeah I know. So I asked him what he was doing to achieve his goals. Suddenly I was "looking down" on him! I said no, I'm just being honest. Then I blocked his ass.

Some jobs have weird schedules. But if a guy asks you what you're doing on a weekday find out why he would think you wouldn't be working. Could be nothing. Could be a reveal that he has no goals or aspirations and is content working a seasonal job and scraping up change every winter at thirty-fucking-one years old.
