Hi Ladies, I need some advice. I have been going out with a new guy recently (only about 3 weeks). So far, not bad.. He's proven to be thoughtful and puts me first, he tries really hard to impress me, cares about my comfort and safety, shows all the chivalrous manners of a gentleman, and I enjoy spending time with him. My mom and other family members have all commented their "approval" for his behavior so far, just based on what I've told them about our dates. I was thorough too... didn't leave anything out or try to sugar coat the couple red flags I noticed, like how he has a tendency to mansplain that is annoying for obvious reasons and which I've pointed out to him, as well as how he seems inexperienced and awkward, which at times is endearing and at other times off-putting/ weird.
Where I'm stuck.. my cousin is having a family birthday party for her daughter in 2 weeks and my family seem eager to meet him.. she reached out to me to extend my invitation to include him if he's available. The whole family will be there though but he hasn't even met my parents on our own yet, let alone everyone else.
I'm from a very tight-knit family and I've always brought boyfriends around to meet them. We speak frankly around here and I'm aware they haven't liked all of my past boyfriends as well as their reasons why, but they are significantly more enthusiastic about this guy and don't see why the stage in the relationship is part of my reservation for bringing him around. Plus he has already explicitly expressed interest in meeting my parents.
What do you all think? When do you bring someone new around to meet family? I'm not really sure how to handle this so thanks in advance everyone!
