All of this stuff is a complete waste of time for women and puts them in a very bad position. This whole trend is so clearly to benefit men at the expense of women.

Geesh, all the examples you told are sad. I feel so sorry for your friends.

I admit that I always wanted to live with someone before I married them but after FDS, I know now that I will never agree to live with a man until I have a ring on my finger and he's my husband. I want commitment and like you said, most guys lose interests once you cohabit together.

This is a tough one for me because I feel that the only way non cohabitation before marriage works is if you both have your own place. You can see how the other person lives, are they neat or responsible with their space, how will you fit in? Will you get stuck doing everything? Plus, will our personal goals (marriage) come to fruition if we live together. These are VERY IMPORTANT conversations before cohabitating or marriage.

We moved in before we got married, we both lived at home and knew it was best for us. We loved each other and had a good idea how we’d live in our own place. But I was not subtle in that I expected to be engaged in short order. I wasn’t going to wait around like an idiot. Ten months after moving in, he delivered. Married 9 months after that. If you want to be married, you want your guy to want to marry you and you want him to know what you want before you make any new living arrangements.

I’m all for living with someone up to a year before marriage. I need to see what the person is like before getting married. But buying a HOUSE as a bf and gf??? I also know a couple like that. A house is just as important of a legal obligation as a marriage is. So you’re ready to take out a 30 year mortgage with your girlfriend but not ready to marry her? This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard of.
