I'm fairly new here, but the most of what I've been reading here makes so much sense. Still though, I wanted to ask my gramma her opinion, because I love and value her very much.

So I asked her, "When you and grandpa were dating, did he always pay for dates?"

And she said "Of course! That's just how it was back then. You know why things have changed nowadays? Women want to be equal." (equal meaning we've given up a lot, including respect from guys) She was very open about the opinion that women these days don't get the respect like they should from guys.

My grandma has been happily married for over 50 years. I'm not saying things were perfect for women back then, but according to her guys knew how to treat a lady on a date! I love my gramma.
