Unfortunately most women would make only moderate cannon fodder in a battle, so if anything this will just make army into welfare office keeping women out of AO in air-conditioned "jobs". Not sure what's a bigger waste - endless wars or institutionalized gynocentrism.

The long standing opinion I've seen is that either the draft should be abolished altogether or it's only fair women should sign up. On literally every feminist forum where this topic has come up in the last 10 years. If you can find a mainstream feminist forum where the majority aren't in one of those two camps I'd love to see it.

With the technological improvements, as well as voluntary enlistments being waaay up for the last decade or two (iirc), this is really just virtue signaling. It should go through anyway, just in case, but the odds of the US actually needing the draft again are low.
