'i have been in a relationship like this. luckily i got out but the mental side of it never leaves you, you feel trapped and im not what you would call a typical victim. i was a doorman and bare knuckle fighter and these situations give you a differnet type of fear. the police were called by neighbours on many occasions, id be sat there covered in blood and as you can guess i was the one arrested but never charged. if i tried to walk out she did crazy things like setting fire to the place with the kids still in their. i was rang by the neighbour one day to say the bungalow was on fire i beat the fire brigade to get there, she was sat on the bed holding the kids and fire was all around i got them out with the neighbours help. the police arrived and i was once again arrested despite the neighbours telling them and still social services did nothing. anyway 10 yrs on now my daughter lives with me the children were taken away after my ex and her new partner were involved in many similar incidents hes not allowed to see his kid with her but the kids were handed bk to the mother and still she is involved in similar incidents . the courts and the police will always side with the mother no matter what. it took me 5 yrs and for once a very helpful social services woman for me to win custody, but only after she turned up at my exes at 9pm one evening to see her at her vile best drunk and threatening and dangerous"
