Just because there is a bias in favor of hiring certain types of people does not mean there is discrimination.

IIRC this study looked at resumes and found that identical resumes with female sounding names received preferential treatment. And if not this study, other studies have shown this. Women even receive preferential treatment in interviews where voice modulation software hides their gender (if the interviewer is told it's a woman they like the candidate more, but men still objectively do better in those interviews).

Those same departments could hire more men if the male candidates are more qualified on average though. What that one person posted was a bunch of studies in this vein, which really doesn't prove much.
