The government do not care as long as they don't have to pay more money.

They take this to the extreme like victims of statutory rape being sued upon turning 18 for back child support and being ordered to pay it. It is absurd.

I heard of someone close-ish to me having their disability check garnished for spousal support, too. And the kind of permanent one too (well into his 80s).

As someone on disability benefits, I think it's abhorrent. We barely have enough to survive and we legally cannot save anything or else risk losing our benefits.

It’s messed up and should be illegal. I’ve seen many cases where a good father gets screwed over by the state and the child’s mother just because he can’t give her everything she wants or demands. I won’t go into details, but it’s sad. I know two men who took their own lives because they couldn’t see their kids due to owing too much and being dragged into a black abyss. Lose your job, get buried in debt. The child’s mother makes it harder for him to see his kids. Local cops can’t help since it’s a civil matter. He loses his license, and now finding work is even harder without one. The mother belittles him on social media for missed support payments, and people judge him without knowing the facts. Before you know it, it’s hell. Modern-day women are the main issue with society.
